about

Latticework is the debut solo album from upright bassist Jakob Heinemann. This debut album establishes Heinemann as member of Chicago's experimental improvisation scene. Jakob communicates his relationship with the instrument throughout four pieces of unedited and transparent improvisation. Working extensively with the idea of timbral counterpoint, Latticework explores multi-faceted textures of contrasting sonic material occurring simultaneously or in rapid succession. Latticework is a nod to this concept, analogizing the complex sounds pulled from the double bass as they are woven into tangible contrapuntal structures.
