What Grieves Frenzy Drown’d is an alternate timeline of polystylistic microtonal music for plucked and bowed strings. It is a diverse collection of solo music for violin, viola, guitar, and contrabass that seeks to amplify the resonances between microtonal string traditions like the Persian tar, Serbian gusle, Indonesian rebab, and Arabic oud. The pieces set out from a fragile timbral pallet to explore a world of extended microtonality making use of whole number pitch ratios, hypnotic rhythms, and just some weird downright singable just intonation melodies. What Grieves Frenzy Drown’d features Marina Kifferstein – violin , Carrie Frey – viola , Mat Muntz- double bass, and Alec Goldfarb - guitar and composition.
